sonnet to love (on behalf of the mind)

when love doth strike, denial shall extrude;

how can a vessel soft be callous so?

the mind, a knight, defends against a foe

who fears the mirror; who's castle dense and shrewd.

so what, then love, are we then to conclude?

the night is nigh, does mind insist you go?

he doth desire you here, tho does not know.

so stay, insist, and risk the slight of rude.

o please, pardon the mind, he does mean well;

he's shaken by his past, his ego hurt.

he fears your fight, your radiant chandelle,

reveres your willingness, hopes to subvert.

o trust, please, that in time, his castle fell;

that you, o love, will make the mind convert.
