PERSONALJUNE WRITING CHALLENGE

rePET

a fine cloth is rarely woven from cycled cuts of below.

the textiles made by purebred looms of the generational worm,

that tease of tumbled polyester

working hard enough to become silk.

but on a pedestal, a luthier divines a lutheran miracle,

a reformation of the violin

through the sum of its parts,

a fabric fiddle.

through its improbability

the bard cannot attune to the instrument,

and so the fabric fiddle's song must mute

for a different story sung.

the silken polyester recycles again

to break the healed bone

and continue to refine its own marrow.

this mandala is just that,

a singular incarnation of an idealized perfection,

because you cannot make silk from rewoven fibre

when silk by definition, has only one heredity.

the traveled fabric may be rewoven a thousand times,

and unlike the clock,

it does not strike right twice.

the nirvana is its own creation.

to know the stories of the matted surface busy-bodies and

to still reflect in them

their own.
